After creating a page on my personal site about my interest in travel, I decided to make a website all about travel and culture. I have dabbled with this topic on the web with a small WordPress blog called Near and Far, and I’m excited to expand to a full website with more content. The site will have four pages: Home, Food and Drink, Art and Culture, and Places and Spaces. Below is a picture of my plan for the home page.

Becca's Site

Because I prefer sites that have large, sharp images, I’m planning on putting an image carousel at the top of the page featuring the most recent articles. Below that I would like to keep the images for each post prominently displayed in the center of the page, while still having a clean left alignment displaying the title of the article and some preview text. I’m going to place a short bio and contact information in the bottom left portion of the footer, a social media media menu in the center, and repeat the brand logo on the right.

In designing the site I drew inspiration from a couple of my favorite websites: Condé Nast Traveler for content and Esteé Lalonde for aesthetics. I’m very excited to get started on this project and create a great home for my travel content.
