Annie Werner of Tumblr and Stacie Chan of Google discussed blogging and self-promotion on October 22nd at Texas State Mass Comm Week. Their discussion revolved primarily around ways in which people can get their name out by differentiating the kind of content they post.
Werner talked about how blogging and maintaining an active online present can help you in the job market. Her main idea is that you need to differentiate yourself from others by the kinds of content you have. Your blog needs to have something different for people to look at.
Chan talked about the importance of students networking with people in their field. “Talk to people with jobs you would like to have,” she said.
