We began this class talking about how awesome Apple is so I only thought it was fitting to continue with the trend as it extends to their website. Personally, I’m a big fan of white space and the use of white space (even if the color is not technically white). Apple’s simplistic web design is always eye-catching because of photo techniques and fonts. Their website also makes me feel like I stepped into another “world” through their unique design elements. I believe this is what draws people in to become an Apple citizen!Ipsy is a site that I use for make-up delivery each month. It’s like getting a monthly present in the mail and it only costs $10.00! (Shameless plug: It’s worth it!). I was drawn to them using their site because of how it was structured in terms of “How it works.” It made it easy for me to follow along and decide if I truly wanted to follow through with the new purchase decision. My third choice would be SXSW’s web page. No, I’m not aiming for brownie points, I’m just commending them for a job well done! There’s a ton of information on this page, but it’s broken up into easy-to-find tabs and sections within the page. I also love the color choice even in the chunky blocks! They are not overwhelming and annoying. They help to compartmentalize for my brain. With tons of information and advertisements flooding on head on a daily, if not hourly, basis, I appreciate techniques like this that actually help to not make my head “work too hard” to find information. Good job SXSW! On a side note and to conclude this post, I find it pretty interesting that 90% of the time, I’m looking at a website through my smart phone. To grab these screenshots, I actually went to the website on a computer. Did anyone else have the same experience?
