If any of you have taken the time to check out my website you would notice under my hobbies & interests page that one of my hobbies is Fantasy Basketball. It tends to go a little bit more in depth than its more popular older brother Fantasy Football (which I also play) and thus garners a lot more individualized content based on league settings, team needs, and individual playing style. Thus, I feel as though there would be enough interest and analysis available to create a website around it!
I am the commissioner of our 10-man league (The Lebowski Urban Achievers) and we have a customized points system that I think could be a valuable resource for those looking for something different than the generic system used by Yahoo! or ESPN leagues. We use the ESPN ESPN NBA Fantasy app for our league and I have yet to find anyone who uses a points system like ours.
My website would one of two things:
(1) Would be a general information resource highlighting top players and their average points and overall scores for the season that could be updated weekly (as the “game” length in basketball is a culmination of a player’s points over the course of 7 days).
(2) It would be a sort of spotlight on my team as well as our league’s custom points system I used earlier. One page would be dedicated to my team and another would dedicated to a static description of our points system works (see below).
So, my page navigation would be potentially be set-up as (1) Home Page (2) Top Players of the Week (3) My Team (4) League Points System with pages 2 & 3 being updated as needed. Something that could be really fun would also to have a member of the league post a self-written (non-profane) post every week. It could be funny, serious, etc. Just something to generate more content and keep it light hearted.
This will be a fun way for my league to interact with each other and I think we would personally get a good deal of useage out of it in that my other members can go to the website for updates and things like that. I could post which team scored the most each week, etc. and there are plenty of other stats I could update quite regularly.
But also, the world of fantasy sports is HUGE and as a commissioner of my basketball league I read a lot of blogs based on the subject. There really isn’t a whole lot of content out there for basketball and there’s a lot of griping going on surrounding the offered systems. I think, at the very minimum, a public forum that details how our league works and how the points play out would be useful to other fantasy enthusiasts and there are loads of forums/blogs I could post this to that would garner at least a little bit of traffic.
Who knows, maybe people will love it and will regularly return to my page to adjust their leagues accordingly! See below for a sketch of my Site Design.
